Happy New Year

Ken thinks I should add "mean" to my list of resolutions for next year.  Probably because I asked him what HIS resolutions are for 2012 and he didn't like the idea that my list should apply to him too... Anyway...  I have managed to not make any progress on my list today.  We have frittered away the day watching an NCIS marathon and noshing on a tasty loaf of cinnamon bread Ken snuck into the freezer a couple of weeks ago.  Really yummy!
Tonight we'll be ending the year with good friends, Ed and Gill.  Eating homemade pizza, playing games, and generally staying out of trouble.  Very happy.
It's silly to think that when the calendar turns over tonight, everything can magically change tomorrow.  But then again, change has to start sometime.  Having a chance, however artificial, to rethink our lives every 365 days, isn't totally bad.  I've made my focus list for 2012.  How about you?

Serenity

I just got back from the gym.  Worked out for over an hour.  Note to self:  this does NOT entitle you to come home and hit the bowl of chocolate!  What I did instead was to sit with a kitty on my lap, a Diet Coke by my side, and a good book.  First it was "Fergus Time", then it was "Toby Time", then they both joined me!  Is there anything better than a purring kitty?  I don't think so.

Rescue and Reuse

First of all, welcome to my blog.  This is mainly a journal for myself, but if you're reading this and enjoy my tidbits of wisdom, please let me know.
Yesterday, in my effort to find ways to shrink my earthly footprint, I rescued a stack of Hammersmith boxes from being flattened and recycled at the Food Bank.  These are perfect for our library book sales, so I threw them in my trunk (thanks to Roger and Jack who helped tote), and drove them to the library.  I also took several paper bags (which are handy for recycling my newspapers) and many plastic bags (which are necessary for keeping my kittys' box clean!).  Feeling very virtuous, I started filling those paper bags with papers/fliers/maps I started weeding out of our filing cabinet.
